Custom Wood Veneer iPhone 4/4s Skin

For this project I decided to make some of my own custom wood veneer iPhone skins. I had seen some commercialized examples in the marketplace and thought it would be fun to play around with the idea.

For my iterations I decided to use more exotic species of wood such as Birdseye Maple, stain and finish the wood and to add custom graphics.

Above is an example of one of the finished versions on my phone.

What did you use for adhesive strips? I’m looking to make my own as well w my laser cutter.

I use this stuff called Cellomount. It’s not very common around here in Minneapolis, MN. I get mine from the University of Minnesota bookstore but I’m sure with a few calls or google searches you will be able to find the stuff. I also am senior Laser technician for the UofM Department of Art here is a link to their blog that I run http://blog.lib.umn.edu/artdept/lasercutter/, hope you find it interesting.

These are really neat! I really like the first two and I’d totally buy them if I had an iPhone haha.
